Migrating from Braintree to Stripe

What is Stripe?

Stripe is an online payment processing platform that allows individuals and businesses to easily accept and manage payments over the internet. It was founded in 2010 and has become one of the most popular payment processors in the world. Stripe offers a wide range of features including secure payment processing, fraud detection, subscription billing, and mobile payments. Stripe's API allows developers to easily integrate its payment system into their own websites and applications. Stripe is known for its ease of use, flexibility, and reliability, making it a popular choice for businesses of all sizes.

Both Stripe and Braintree are payment processing platforms that let businesses take payments from customers online. There are, however, some differences between the two:

Fees: Stripe charges a flat rate of 2.9% + 30 cents per transaction, while Braintree charges 2.9% + 30 cents per transaction for US transactions and 3.9% + 30 cents per transaction for transactions outside the US.

Payment options: Stripe lets you pay with credit cards, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and ACH payments, among other things. Braintree also lets you pay with credit cards and ACH, but it doesn't have as many ways to pay as Stripe.

Integration: Both platforms have powerful APIs that make it easy to connect. Most people think that Stripe's API is more user-friendly and easier to integrate.

Step 1: Create a Stripe Account via Our Scout Web App

To start the migration process, you will need to create a new Stripe account through our Scout web app.

Step 2: Request Migration from Braintree Support

After creating your Stripe account, you will need to contact Braintree's support https://developer.paypal.com/braintree/help and select "Migrating Credit Card Data" as your issue near the bottom with your request to migrate your payment cards to Stripe. Please make sure to write in the same email that you registered with Braintree.

Step 3: Share Migration File Output with Our Support Team

Once your migration request has been processed, Braintree will generate a secret key encrypting all of your payment card information and share that with you. You will need to share this file with our support team by sending it to support@scoutforpets.com or in our chat.

Step 4: We'll Migrate You With Stripe

Once we have received your migration file, it will take us 2-3 business days to work with Stripe to complete the migration process. During this time, we will be working to migrate your payment card information from Braintree to Stripe.

Step 5: Confirm Your Migration with Our Support Team

Once we have completed the migration process, we will reach out to you to confirm that the migration has been successful. At this point, you will need to log in to our Scout web app and click "Confirm Migration" to finalize the migration.
